LeagueTennis.com Newsletter
December 2007/ Issue 4

It is hard to believe that our first season is over and our Fall 2007 City Champions have been crowned! Leslie Dye (L) and Cindy Klng (R) jump for joy after winning the -3.5 level titles.

We had some really close final matches with most determined in three sets. We want to give a special thank you to I Play Tennis, Atlanta's newest specialty tennis store, for providing our winners with store gift cards to go along with their really cool City Champion T-shirts and bag tags. Be sure to get the complete results.

Our players are FANTASTIC and have been so helpful to us by providing great feedback and helping us spread the word. We often get calls or emails from new players saying their ALTA & USTA teammates referred them to our league.

This has truly been a great experience for us, and we are really looking forward to a fantastic Winter! We have players at all levels and in just about all areas of Atlanta signed up for our Winter leagues so we really think everyone will enjoy the competition and the opportunity to meet new friends on the courts.

We wish you all a safe and happy holiday!

Cardio exercise for tennis players, off season and between matches

Improving your physical fitness side is straightforward; you need to improve your endurance by ideally a minimum of 30 minutes cardiovascular activity at the right level 3 times a week.

Avoid doing your cardiovascular workout before you play your game. Both weight training exercises and explosive leg exercises such as short sprints and plyometrics can improve explosive power.

Remember to work within your own limits. Aim to spend 1 day a week doing either sprint / plyometric work. As these are both very demanding, avoid if you have a low fitness level, or any injury.

Blogs, blogs & more blogs... This month we spotlight a few cool, informative tennis blogs.

Did you know "The term "weblog" was coined by Jon Barger on December 17th, 1997. The short form, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May of 1999. This was quickly adopted as both a noun and verb ("to blog," meaning "to edit one's weblog or to post to one's weblog")" Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog
